That election teaser was quite a funny thing to watch and it whetted our appetite for more Will, Grace, Karen and Jack. And now it’s been confirmed they’re coming back. I admit I’m surprised that NBC is the one that’s signing up for it, as it’s all the rage to go back on Netflix. Regardless, bring it on and I am ready for the 2017/2018 television season!
While looking for a link to include about Will & Grace, I stumbled upon this promo for John Oliver’s “Last Week Tonight” returning for its next season, and it’s awesome. He wanders through Game of Thrones, Silicon Valley, and most hilariously, he bumps into Larry David on the set of the next season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, which HELLS YEAH.
And in non-related news, today went pretty well. I hope that things continue to go well. 🙂
I just realized that it’s “8/8/2016” which is 8 years after “8/8/8” (aka 8/8/2008) which was when NBC’s coverage of the Beijing Olympics began. MAN. That doesn’t feel like 8 years ago, but here we are.
It’s sometimes very strange to consider I used to work at NBC! That’s weird, but it also isn’t. I was talking to Larry yesterday about how my interest in the Olympics is back to the levels it was before I was employed at NBCU, which is basically nil. The only things I do care about….the Men’s Gymnastics Team(s), that’s for damn sure – hello Sam Mikulak and Jake Dalton:
Sam Mikulak, fine as hell
Sam Mikulak really coming into his own in the hotness arena
Unreal.
This team is insane.
And Jake Dalton, with the most American name ever, quite the picture of hotness.
Hi everyone, first off, I’m sick today and I hate it. Fever and Stomach issues = FUN. Honestly though, today has just been a good opportunity to take it easy, take some occasional naps, and catch up on some of last week’s TV!
Speaking of:
Broad City, Season 3, Episode 1 – “Two Chainz”: Abbi & Ilana came back just as funny as ever, and this crazy ordeal of their around NYC while trying to find a bathroom, release Ilana from her chains, and eventually get to Abbi’s friend’s gallery showing was absolutely amazing. It just feels right that Broad City is back.
Survivor – Season 32 (Brawn vs Brains vs Beauty 2): Holy shit this first episode was loaded with brutality. Whether it was everyone getting pummeled by the weather by Day 2, the woman who got a worm crawling around in her ear, the other woman who was having an anxiety attack, and some of the terrible moves by some players (looking for an Idol way too obviously; dropping the snorkeling mask immediately during the Immunity Challenge) – this was a very engaging episode. We shall see if the claim this is the most intense season ever holds true, but if this episode is any indication, YEAH, IT IS.
Amazing Race – Youtubers Edition: I’ve actually been enjoying this season a lot more than I expected to. The cast are all characters and there’s some very entertaining hotness to keep me occupied. Man, some of the stupid things that racers have been doing! Not buying plane tickets at the airport; not taking your taxi to the beach and having to run a mile each way; totally not reading the clues….yeah, I guess that kind of stuff happens every season!
So yeah, television has been interesting so far.
Anyway, very exciting yesterday was getting to have dinner with Sharon, my former NBC coworker and who lives in Israel but is in town for work. Love her to pieces and it was great to go to The Misfit in Santa Monica and enjoy catching up. Here are the pics I took with us all getting back together (including George!).

A little earlier in the week, we had a PwC worknight excursion to a Korean BBQ restaurant to celebrate getting through busy season. Larry & I had been to previous KBBQ joints that the NBC crew had found and they were a bit different than this one, as the others were pretty much all all-you-can-eat and you grilled your own food. This week’s version was not unlimited and they cooked for you…not altogether a bad way to go, but certainly surprising!

Tomorrow is going to be a cool day – it’s our Engagement Photo session. Here’s hoping I’ll be feeling closer to 100% than I am right now. And here’s hoping I don’t like a goddamn mess in these photos. But who am I kidding?
My friend and former co-worker at NBCU has just recently moved on from NBC and took a job at Sony out here in Culver City! It’s all very exciting as Rekha is the best and I am so excited for her. It’s a whole new world for her!! She’s staying with Nicki for a few weeks for some initial training, then she’ll go back east and get her stuff packed up and moved – then she’s back here for good. We went out with her to dinner earlier this week and I just downloaded the pictures today as I’m lazy. 🙂
So this weekend was pretty fun as Mom’s birthday was on Saturday night and we took her to Benihana’s! Â Needless to say, I probably ate more than I should have, but it was totally worth it. Â Double fried rice is never a bad thing. Â So happy birthday, Mom!!! Â We love you!
On Friday night, a great big group of us ol’ NBC folks, past and present obviously, got together and celebrated Nicki & Carey’s 29th birthdays. Â Carey is pictured above in the middle while I didn’t get any pictures of Nicki, seemingly. Â Hmmm. Â Possibly because I drank quite a healthy amount?
Tomorrow is finally the day! Â It doesn’t seem like forever ago when I bought the tickets, but apparently it was! Â Tomorrow night (a school night!) we’ll be headed to the Forum for some fun and what looks to be my chance to FINALLY hear Madonna sing “Material Girl” in concert!!!! FINALLY!
I’ve been addicted to this videogame, Sleeping Dogs, for the last two weeks or so.  It’s effectively a Grand Theft Auto for the Hong Kong area and the Chinese Triad, so while it sounds derivative, it helps that the game does it very well and is ridiculously entertaining.  Also, I recently updated my graphics card and the visuals are just amazing.  Anyway, I need to wrap this game up as two biggies are on their way, Fallout 4 and Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate.
Finally, Larry & I just created a new website that will be grand central station for any and all wedding information for the amazing day coming in April 2016. Â It’s creatively titled www.hobieandlarry.com and it is not in it’s final form just yet, but we’ve at least got the site up and running. Â Can you believe that domain wasn’t taken? Â Much appreciation goes towards FatCow.com, my web host, for having a nearly effortless set of tools to buy the domain and then install WordPress on it. Â Super easy. Â Soon enough now, you should be able to see the piece of art that Larry is creating for our Save the Date cards. Â It’s awesome.
