Nothing Like a Kaysar & Janelle Team-Up

Man, I love the hell out of these two.  Their awesomeness is not unnoticed by everyone else in the house though as they easily become two juicy targets to take out, especially as the house starts shaking out along battle lines.   There’s Cody and Nicole F (who strangely are allies now?), along with potentially Tyler and Memphis?   Then there’s Kaysar and Janelle, and then everyone else – those others aren’t floaters but it’s just too damn early to say yet.

Anyway, Cody’s plan this week?   Nominate Kaysar and Janelle.  Shocker.   It sucks for my enjoyment as I love these two, and it seems like there’s going to be another new-school vs old-school showdown brewing like what happened on Survivor this past season.   It would be great if old-school gets the upper hand this time, but we’ll have to see if that plays out.

Well, just as Cody thinks his week won’t be too stressful, we learn about the “Safety Suite.”  Everyone is given VIP Passes to BB’s hottest club:  Safety Suite.   Over the next 3 weeks, the Safety Suite will be open for one hour each week – you can decide to scan your pass at the door and you enter yourself in to compete for that week’s competition.  The prize?  Safety for the week.  Also, you get to take a “+1” and that person also gets safety.   It’s like this twist was specifically made to help keep Super Targets safe!?  The downside?   You can only use this pass once, and if you lose, you don’t get to try again later.  Oh, and the “+1” gets a punishment.

This week’s easy targets, Janelle and Kaysar

So, the Safety Suite opens up for the week and absolutely everyone is terrified of making the move to swipe in.  It does indicate you feel you’re not safe and you’re willing to do something about it….which YEAH.  That’s exactly the point of this whole thing.  Don’t put your fate in someone else’s hands.   Both Kaysar and Janelle saw right through Cody’s noncommittal blahblahblah to them when they individually talked to him and could tell they were in trouble.   But neither of them move to go swipe in.   It’s not until literally 30 seconds are left when Kaysar gets up, goes upstairs, and swipes in at literally the last second.   Janelle is right there with him and swipes in too.

Thoughts:  where the hell was anybody else from Cody’s “side” of the house to mitigate this quite obvious possibility?  Like, was no one thinking about the fact that if just Kaysar and Janelle compete, unless they both absolutely fuck up in the comp, which hello, both of them are comp beasts, that means they’ll both be safe?   Where was Nicole F or Tyler or Memphis shadowing them and being the spoiler???  I’m glad they didn’t, but I’m still staggered at this non-play by that side.   Also, some have speculated why did Janelle even bother playing at all if it was likely that she would be Kaysar’s “+1”?  I think her concern is that if Kaysar lost, she’d be fucked.  It seems there was a time limit to the comp and a time out was entirely possible.  So it was best to just hedge bets and stay in the game rather than pray Kaysar didn’t lose.

Come Through, Safety Suite!

In an enormous lounge area somewhere on the studio stage, BB built up a big DJ booth for the competition.   The goal was to be the fastest to recreate the “Twinkle, Twinkle” remix by pressing the right buttons that contained the various pieces of music found in the remix.  Kaysar went first, followed by this Confident Queen:

Janelle’s swagger knows no bounds.  The animated GIF of her entering and throwing her jacket on the chair is just…chef’s kiss.

Anyway, neither timed out, and our winner? Continue reading Nothing Like a Kaysar & Janelle Team-Up

Big Brother 14 – Ep 19

With no further ado…..the greatest Big Brother goodbye message, ever.

Rrrrring, rrrrring….What is this telephone doing in the DR?   Hello?  Oh hey, Janelle, no, Mike Boogie’s actually not here but I was just leaving a message for him, is there anything that I can say?  HAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHA!!!!

It’s so glorious because you can almost feel that this is karmic retribution for the many MANY times that he & Will Kirby did this exact same type of send off in their seasons.  Britney is a god.  Here is a Youtube collection of her great performances in her first season (Season 12).

This episode wasn’t just about Britney though. Far from it, actually!   What makes me laugh about this picture is either it’s a random shot that just happened to show a very pissed-off Boogie or it captures his exact state of mind in the time leading up to the first eviction.  And there’s Dan in the background just chilling.  As we saw before the vote, Boogie pulled no punches in his confrontations with everyone.  Oh yeah, Jenn was also upset.  GIRL.  You are a pawn.  Chill the eff out.  So we ended up getting Boogie accusing Shane of being Dan’s bitch, Frank and Boogie telling anyone who will listen how much they hate Dan and Shane, Ian almost revealing himself to Boogie by accidentally saying that it was going to be a hard vote (between Boogie & Jenn)…and Boogie jumping on it before Ian saved himself.  Even better?  Boogie pleads for Ian’s safety after his eviction as he’s “a good kid.”  Oh boy.

Alright, the deets:

Outgoing Head of Household:  Shane
Nominated for Eviction:  Jenn & Boogie
Evicted:  Boogie (5-2)
New Head of Household:  Ian
Nominated for Eviction: Frank & Ashley
Power of Veto Winner:  Frank
Replacement Nominee (as Frank obvs used it):  Joe
Evicted:  Ashley (5-1)

Episode 19 – August 23, 2012

Whew!  That was a lot to get through. That initial segment had quite a bit of intrigue in it, enough to place the seeds of doubt in your head that perhaps Boogie could save himself.  Yet when I first saw the group in the Live living room shot, it was clear there was not much happiness going on.  Despite his best efforts, along with Jenn quite capably sabotaging her own status by completely overreacting to her predicament, Boogie was voted out, with only Ashley and Frank voting to keep him.  This vote by Ashley would come back to haunt her later, but we’ll get to that soon enough.  As Boogie leaves the house, Ian basically confesses to him right there that he was responsible.  Boogie gets a chance to tell Frank not to trust Ian and I have to ask, why would Ian do that?  He knows soon enough the goodbye messages are going to come out and Boogie will know.  He painted a giant target on his back with that stupid act.

Of course the goodbye message from Britney was played to all of the viewing audience’s delight as was Ian’s extended confession.  Instead of Boogie being super pissed, it shows that he really does realize this is a game as his reaction was full of appreciation for Ian’s move.  Makes me like him a lot more than I did previously.  Not that much time to spend with Boogie though as this was a hectic night of Big Brothering, because this was Double Elimination Night!  Apparently the Mystery Question Box will have to wait for another day.

In the HoH comp, which was the frequently-seen Before or After type of challenge, Ian ended up lasting till the end against Danielle.  It ends with a number tie-breaker – both end up going over but Ian was closest so he wins HoH!  As I type this while quite hungover on Sunday afternoon, I really don’t know if this was a good move for him.  Obviously Frank is now targeting him, but it could have been possible to lay low and let someone else draw Frank’s ire. Once he saw that Danielle was up against him, he could have given her the win.  It wasn’t as if the Quack Pack didn’t run off and strategize the moment he won, right?  Anyway, he nominates Frank (obviously) and Ashley (?).  That surprised me but once we heard from her at the end of the show, it turns out this nomination wasn’t a lover’s rejection but a response to her allying herself with Boogie and Frank (and Ian, but that was obviously under false pretenses).

In the veto competition, the six who got to play had to race into a ball pit full of gold coins with two clovers hidden within somewhere.  The first to find them and bring them back wins Veto.  Ashley was never a contender while the others could have been, but Frank was playing to win and that is exactly what he did.  I loved hearing the studio audience’s reaction when he did – it was a mix of groans and cheers.   With Frank yet again safe, the Quack Pack now were confronted with a wasted eviction and it came down to an elimination of a floater.  Ian replaced Frank with Joe, and surprisingly (to me), Ashley was evicted by a vote of 5-1.  Only Frank voted against “terrible chef” Joe while everyone else sent Ashley packing.  I was surprised to see Jenn vote against Ashley, but I’m guessing we’ll find out some more tonight about that last-minute decision.  Perhaps she was clued in to the majority vote or she just didn’t like her.

When Ashley got to meet Julie Chen, girl was OUT OF IT.  As I brought up in previous posts, due to her back problems, it’s been said that she has been given Xanax for the pain. That has to be the explanation for her general demeanor as that is not normal being that glazed over.  She managed to spit out a few things about what happened and in the midst of that word salad we were given an idea that she allied with Frank, Boogie, and Ian and that’s the reason why she’s out.  She sounded hurt by Ian’s betrayal, but honestly, who knows, and I just hope she gets some real medical attention!

We now have a vengeful Frank left in the house.  He has been the target EVERY single week whenever he wasn’t the HoH himself.  At a certain point, he’s got to feel a sense of pride in his ability to deflect these constant attacks.  It’s unreal that he hasn’t had one week of peace on his non-HoH stints. Through ridiculous motivation and determination, he wins when he has to and saves himself or grabs the HoH power to stay in the game.  If he makes it to the Final Two, I don’t see how he doesn’t win in a landslide.  This group of people doesn’t seem to strike me as a vindictive sort (except Jenn, but that would just be irrationality) so unless he starts verbally berating them a la Willie, Frank is the one to beat.  But there’s only so much a Team of One can do in this house.  The attempt to backdoor him will certainly come in to play soon.  I am curious if he can rally the floaters together but even that is something that seems to be too late to do.  Regardless, Frank’s still in at this point, and he’s fired up.  Plus, the Mystery Question Box is alleged to be the focus of tonight’s episode – CBS explicitly says it’s Pandora’s Box. It will be interesting to see what devilry comes of it.

HG Comments
Ashley – You made a recent alliance with Frank and Boogie and that was as good a reason as any to target you.  Sorry you ended up leaving, but I really hope you get some medical attention and some rest.  You’re a very nice person – just not cut out for Big Brother (neither am I though!).
Britney – You’re by far the most consistently funny person ever on this show.  Love you.  I don’t think you have a shot in hell of winning this game though.  I WANT you to win, don’t misunderstand.  But yeah, you have no chance of winning this.  At all.
Dan – Impressive you were able to keep your cool.  Impressive that you’ve got all these people really blinded to the fact that you really are a threat.  With Boogie gone – and Frank on a tear – I think your peace is at an end.  Good luck this week.
Danielle – Like the last episode, not much of note about you in this episode except you did make it the to finals in the HoH comp.  Congrats!  Other than that, you were a body with a vote.
Frank – You’re unstoppable.  I respect the hell out of your gameplay even if I’m not really rooting for you.  You’re the Janelle of this season, that’s for sure.  But like Janelle before, I would be stunned if you got past the Final Three.
Ian – Took on the HoH role, unwisely I think.  Look for some swift retribution if Frank gets HoH.  Why would you confess to Boogie while he was IN the house????
Jenn – I’ve said this before, but I had such high hopes for you at the beginning of this season.  I would rather JoJo was in than you, as at least she was entertaining.
Joe – Besides his sign-language vote to evict Ashley, not much of note.  Your time is short in this game, Joe. Count on it.
Mike Boogie – Probably like Janelle, you’re probably happy to have been evicted before Jury, as it means you don’t have to be sequestered.  Now you can go back to your family.  If you’re not going to make it to the end, then eh, why bother, right?
Shane – Your HoH ended up yielding some decent results this time – the eviction of a true and valid threat, Boogie.  I’m surprised.  But now you, along with Ian and Dan, are the prime targets for Frank.  Good luck!
Wil – Evicted 4th, 6th out of the House.
Janelle – Evicted 3rd, 5th out of the House.
JoJo – Evicted 2nd, 4th out of the House.
Willie – Eliminated. Effectively 3rd out of the House.
Kara – 1st Houseguest Evicted, 2nd out of the House
Jodi – Not really Evicted – but 1st out of the House

Larry & I fell in love with Britney from Big Brother 12 (that would be two summers ago…yikes!) for basically being the most hilarious, snarky contestant ever on the show.  Ever.   But the line she said that has stuck with us for the last two years – literally, the LAST. TWO. YEARS – is a line she said when being interviewed by EW.com after the show.  She’s ragging on how crazy Rachel is, especially Rachel’s need to be on TV and how she literally  has two faces, one for the camera, one for real life.  Watch below.  IT IS SO FUCKING FUNNY.   Larry helped me cut the original video to just the line, but below that is the actual entire interview, which itself is utterly hilarious.  I wish she had come back for All Stars!

Here’s the whole clip from Youtube (the clip above is right around the 2:43 point):

Why the hell am I talking about cookies?  Because we made some amazing chocolate chip cookies this weekend and whenever cookies are involved, Larry & I will always resort to, “REGAN, YOU WANT SOME COOKIES?????”  And so here I am, back posting, and I had to find this video.

Secret to Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies

You want to know the secret to secret perfect chocolate chip cookies?  It’s twofold:

– You must have properly softened butter.  Leave it out overnight.  It’s essential.
– Second, use parchment paper on your cookie sheets.  This prevents the cookies from burning directly on the sheet, making them cook better plus it’s so much less messy this way.  ZOMG.  These are the best cookies ever.

I promise to be back soon with pics from the last two months or so.  I think I’ve found a great efficient way to show off my Picasa-hosted photos and not have them only show up in a teeny-tiny window.  I mean, seriously, who can see them?  I have a little bit of work fixing older posts just to get the photos to display better, but it’ll be worth it.
