No Burning Pizza

Nope – today was a no-burning pizza day, and it was wonderful.  In fact, today was a Spaghetti Carbonara day, another of Larry’s specialties.  It’s ridiculously good.  Makes me think of Rome every time.

Tangent Time!

At lunch today, a group of us were eating at the Dino Cafe area that straddles the backlot and the Universal Studios Theme Park.  The conversation came up about what constitutes a salad:  the definition seems pretty bastardized at this point.  You’d think that lettuce would be a vital ingredient, but then if you think about Fruit Salad (ugh….) it kind of makes that definition invalid.  You can almost call any combination of foods a “salad.”

Weird Al Time!

If you’ve been on the Internet the last two days, you’ll have seen that Weird Al is releasing 8 videos from his upcoming album, Mandatory Fun.  He’s releasing one a day, so yesterday was “Tacky” which was a parody of Pharrell’s “Happy,” but today’s video release was pretty amazing.  He parodied “Blurred Lines” and called it “Word Crimes” and the song’s lyrics are just a takedown on the terrible state of grammar, vocabulary, and spelling in our world.  Watch it and learn.

Miscellany

I’ve got a few movies I want to talk about that we’ve seen recently, but I don’t have the motivation tonight.  But I will talk soon about Safety Not Guaranteed and Begin Again.

Also, I’m a bit sad that the latest season of 24 is over!  It was a lot of fun this year and a welcome return after having disappeared 4 years ago.

Maybe you heard the news that Enlisted has a possible shot at getting a second season via my favorite streaming service, Yahoo!…?  They’ve committed to Community already and if they bring back Enlisted, I’ll be completely content.  Completely.
