Last night’s celebration with Rekha back on the West Side was a blast, but man, it was tough to get up and at ’em this morning.  A touch hungover.  Took a lot of water to start feeling normal again.  It all happened because I mixed wine with hard stuff, and yeah, rookie move.  So not only was today spent trying to recover from a hangover, I also was working from home.  Fun day.

Golden Globes were fun – La La Land kicked ass and took home a lot of the awards, Meryl Streep was bad ass as usual in her speech, and then we watched the Bright Lights documentary of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds and now I’m just done.  It was a wonderful look into their lives, but just so goddamn sad in retrospect.

Anyway, I’ll try to download my pictures from last night and get them up this week, as there are some good ones.  It was a good time out and about in the world.  It was also nice to wander around Santa Monica a bit.

Tuesday Musings: Twin Peaks, Back to Work, Bright Lights

Back to work after all those wonderful days off…it’s only fair, but man, it was brutal.  I do love that PwC shuts the hell down for that week.  I learned today that Sony does the same thing.  I would love to shout out why didn’t NBC do that, but I know full well that the TV game doesn’t ever really stop.  Summer being a dead zone full of reruns went away what feels like decades ago!

Other Stuff:

I would LOVE if the new Twin Peaks revival premieres on my wedding date.

Also, this documentary that was made just this past year and premieres this weekend on HBO about the life of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds?  Looks AMAZING.  And I imagine my eyes will be filled with tears for the majority of it.

It’s still hard to believe the situation around their deaths.

2016: Enough is enough

Honestly, enough already.

2016 has been a brutal year overall, but the toll it’s taken on my pop culture idols has been kind of epic.   Christmas, it was George Michael (seriously….wtf?)…

…and the day before Christmas, Carrie Fisher has a heart attack, which she ended up succumbing to today.  Ugh.  It was wonderful to see her on screen again in The Force Awakens and even though it wasn’t Carrie Fisher, to see the 1977 Princess Leia again in Rogue One was amazing.  But Carrie Fisher was certainly much more than Princess Leia, and was so willing to talk about absolutely everything, whether it was her life or about others, her take was always fascinating.  Larry & I went and saw her one-woman Broadway show, Wishful Drinking, back in NYC in the Studio 54 theater one wonderful night.  It was absolutely delightful.  We even got a bit of some impromptu show from her as someone in our audience apparently fell asleep and was a really loud snorer.  It finally caught her attention and she couldn’t stop from saying, “is someone SNORING up there???”  They were quickly ejected from the theater.  The world’s lost a hilarious, unique voice who lived a very singular life.  Apparently she did finish filming for Episode VIII, which will be likely more bittersweet than anyone could have imagined that movie would be.

Someone lock up Madonna in a vault please.
