I knew that I was going to love the new show Difficult People, now available on Hulu, just by the description alone. It is about two terrible people (Billy Eichner & Julie Klausner) but who are awesomely hilarious and catty and while being awful to everyone else, actually are great towards each other. Their love of show business and pop culture drives them forward but their compulsion to always be bitchy almost always backfires. We just watched 4 episodes in a row (there’s a fifth available, but it was like, calm down and do something else already) and I’m in love. Hulu is releasing them weekly so once we’re caught up, then we’ll have to have patience. UGH.
We started watching Difficult People because we just finished up the second and latest season of Bojack Horseman, which was just amazing. It’s so funny but it got really dark and intense at the end there while also ending with kind of an upbeat sense of hope. I just bought the song that the the opening credits music is extracted from – it’s such an interesting piece of music. I’m not even sure how you describe the sound, but it’s atmospheric and puts you in a strange, funky Hollywood mood.
