2nd Time with a Lonely Goatherd

Wow, that sounds a lot more scandalous….and sexy…than me just saying this was my second time at the Sound of Music Sing-A-Long at the Hollywood Bowl!  Luckily, we planned a little bit more for this one – the first thing we did better this year was with Mila doing a pre-season order.  She coordinated a mass ticket purchase with our group from the calendar of shows at the Hollywood Bowl.  Doing that lets you get tickets before they go on sale to the general public, hence the amazing seats we got in the Garden box section.  These seats were even better than when Larry & I had Terrace box seats for the Star Wars in Concert show we went to last year.

Additionally, we also correctly read the website about taking the shuttles to Hollywood Bowl – unlike last year when Mila & I totally didn’t read the website right and had to do a last minute drive to Hollywood, dealing with tons of traffic and stress, eventually getting into our seat the moment the movie started.  This time?  Got there at 5, about 2.5 hours before the movie started.  Plenty of time to partake in a leisurely feast in the box and drink plenty of great wine all while enjoying the SOM pre-show.  It was hosted by some hilarious lady who was on the Reba show.  She was joined briefly by Dot Jones (Coach Beiste from Glee) in full nun regalia.   After she hosted a huge parade of costumed fans, and then afterwards, 5 of the 7 Von Trapp children from the movie were there.  I know for sure that Friedrich wasn’t there…but I can’t remember which girl wasn’t.  Charmain Carr introduced a lot of them, but I think she’s experiencing a bit of dementia, which was kinda sad.  Anyway, it was great to take in this side of the show before the sing-a-long itself, which was of course awesome.  The “Do-Re-Mi” and “Lonely Goatherd” numbers are and will always be my favorite moments, whether I’m watching alone or in a group of 18K other fans.  SO MAGICAL!

Alright, here are the photos of Larry, me, Mila, Sveta, Angie & John in our Garden Box…along with some other random folks (some very attractive, at that), the Hollywood Bowl, and the extremely beautiful Edelweiss moments, in which everyone whips out their cell phones and bathes the seating sections in a bright white magical glow.  SWEET.
