SNL – Again!

Howdy out there in teh Internets! Guess what? I got to go, AGAIN, to the dress rehearsal of Saturday Night Live! You know, it was shocking enough that I got to go the first time last season, but to get the chance to go yet again, and this time the PREMIERE. Of course, it was incredible, as yet again, we were on the floor of the studio on the wooden stools. I took Larry with me and this experience blew his mind. He had actually been to an SNL taping before, but up in the ‘regular’ seats. I think I’ve been getting lucky though with the floor seats; it seems that it’s not for sure that I’ll get those as my invitation doesn’t say anything about the seating, just when to get there. And basically the first time I got there late and at the end of one of the lines, and I got floor seats. This time, again, we were at the end of the same line, and again, the last 6 of us in that line got floor seats. SWEET.

Anyways, it was awesome – it starts at 8pm and runs for two hours, allowing them to trim out skits that aren’t quite ready for primetime or to rearrange the skits into a better pattern, all based on whether we think it’s good. But it was great to be the first to see Tina Fey’s return to SNL with her flawless impression of Sarah Palin. Was it not incredible how she basically WAS Sarah Palin? I loved the way she barely said “I don’t know what that is….!” when Hillary Clinton describes her thoughts on the Bush Doctrine. And then her posing and flirting to the camera while Hillary is having a mental breakdown. Good stuff.

Larry flipped out the most when William Shatner showed up for his cameo in the opening monologue. Larry’s kind of a Trekkie so seeing the Shat was quite a thrill. And during Lil’ Wayne’s first number, Michael Phelps was basically standing right behind Larry – literally Larry could have turned around and been face-to-face with Phelps’ crotch. I know.

Anyways, it was all awesome.

Then the next day, we woke up and took part in the Breast Cancer Race for the Cure 5K in Central Park. It was quite painful to run, mostly because there was like 90% humidity. Ugh. Everyone was pouring sweat at the end as there was just no chance it would get evaporated into the air that day. But it is for a good cause, right?

And now it’s time to be back at work. I am still poised to write some stuff for realitynewsonline but I’m not sure yet in what capacity. I know that the editor is still interested in having me write and I’m not going to give him an opportunity to let me fall by the wayside by me not showing any interest. This would be great fun and a cool opportunity – I don’t get paid, but I really don’t care. It would just be fun to be ‘published’ and not on my own site!

Also this afternoon I signed up to be part of a GE conference on how best to recruit in the military for people to come work in GE. This should be fun.

That’s awesome you got to see SNL. I didn’t watch it. There was NFL filth on my TV. Reasons to have more then one TV I suppose.
I have an idea for recruiting ex-military people….how about offering them jobs. That would be just great. Anyways, if you use my idea at you conference, make sure you give me credit. Caio!

I’ll make sure to bring up your suggestions for military recruiting at the next conference – that’s certain to be an attention grabber! LOL. I was a little surprised to find out that I was only one of 7 military hired throughout ALL of GE last year. You’d think that GE would have been more into the recruiting scene for a while – they’re only just now really trying to ramp it up.
A funny story during today’s conference: they totally called pilots out. They’re like, “What can you do with a pilot who only has a flying skillset?” Privately, I thought to myself, “Well, if you ever need a know-it-all douchebag to tell you that you’re not worthy, you know who to call!”
