6 Miles = A LONG Walk

I really thought that 6 Miles would be not all that long of a walk. I was ridiculously wrong. It’s actually quite a long way. And I am now exhausted and my feet hurt and oy!

This morning I woke up bright and early in order to catch the Light Rail down to Hoboken. There I met Arielle and together we took the PATH into Manhattan, then took the subway up to the midtown area in order to walk over to the check-in area of the AIDS Walk. It turned out to be a beautiful day for this event, although by the end of the walk, the weather had gotten quite rainy. But before that, the whole walk was pretty cool. We met up with a group that was all walking for Arielle’s friend and then amongst the many thousands of people there, we began the walk. It started down by the southwest corner of Central Park and the walk wound its way up the entire length of the park’s west side, where we then turned west towards Riverside Dr and then walked that entire length back. It turned out to be about 6 miles – and that was a LONG six miles. I think I know why too – it’s exhausting to walk by taking a ton of little steps – when you’re forced to shuffle along that is not only frustrating, but you expend way more energy than if you’re just walking along at a good pace. I’ve always walked fast, so having to walk slow is draining! Weird, eh?

Anyways, here are some pics from today. I also took some pics from work on Friday, and there are some of those too below.

It was a good day today. Exhausting, but good. My feet hurt.

Hi Hobie
Nice website. Seems like you’re always up to something! Hey I’m in Baltimore, MD for the next couple of weeks so I’m kind of close to your area. Send an email to star.garcia@sbcglobal.net so we can chat a bit.
Later,
Shelly G.
