Before the Salga Beach House

I arrived at the Azores at the end of August 2001. A few days later, September 11th happened and changed everything. I had been living at the dorms since my arrival on the island but hadn't really met anyone in the dorms as there were cliques already, primarily the teacher's clique. But after that, everyone dropped that act and got to know each other. The people there that emerged to be my good friends were Amy and Jason (not Rubi). We eventually started hanging out quite a lot in the T-152 second floor common room where the big TV was and developed a good friendship there. Lots of movies were watched and alcohol was drunk, and it was a great way to start my time on the island (besides the whole tragedy aspect). It was hard to leave the dorm environment, but let's face it, where I lived next rocked the casbah, seriously.
