The Second Leg

Rogers Family, You Have Been Eliminated!

I'm not going to dwell too much on this episode as I'm way late on writing this up. But the Rogers family completely blew this one when Denny told Brock the wrong directions and then blamed him for it. Wow. I felt bad for Brock because you know he just wanted to yell back at Dad, but he held back. .

Lancaster, PA to Washington, DC

Here's where the Rogers made their major mistake after going to the Shoe house. But others made major mistakes here and seriously lost position because of it. When several teams decided not to closely read the clue about the Reflecting Pool, they wasted time (the Gaghans lost TWO hours) wandering around THE Reflecting Pool as opposed to considering that there is A reflecting pool at the Capitol. OOPS! If anyone who has ever watched this show can attest, you HAVE to read the clue clearly and thoroughly. Even the hometown Aiellos messed up. Silly people. I think the shocking thing about the Gaghans was when the Dad refused to ask for help based on the suggestion of his son. Dumb move. Always ask for help, people!

Roadblock: Spy Game

Just a lucky game. Some made good time, while others didn't. It was cool to see that section of DC, as I've totally walked that area before when going to visit the Jefferson Memorial.

Washington, DC to Middleburg, VA

This section of the race also showed the value of a good map. The Linzes came back from almost dead last when they used their map to get out of the traffic jam in Virginia and take the quicker route of surface streets to the Civil War battleground at Middleburg. If the Weavers hadn't done so well at the oil challenge, the Linzes probably would have made it to first place, which would have been amazing. Traffic jams suck!

Detour: Filling the Oil or Carrying the Wounded

How sad is it that you don't bother to get in shape for this race, knowing full well you'll need to be able to run and lug stuff? I mean, c'mon, Mr. Bransen, get a clue. Why would you allow yourself to possibly let your team down because you couldn't hack it? Anyways, this was another challenge where teams really needed to consider their members and determine if they had that much strength or if they should take the other option (like the buggy and the house building). Some teams really should have done the oil challenge. But alas, they didn't, and while the editing made it look close between the Paolos and the Rogers (why won't the Paolos lose already????), I'm sure the Rogers were nowhere near close to beating them. Hopefully Brock doesn't kill his dad after this.
