Mini-Meltdown, iPhone-style

Man, when one of your prime pieces of technologies decides to take a shit on you, it can reaaaaaalllly fuck with your day/emotions/state of mind.  Today was that day for me, as my when deciding to install the latest iOS on my work iPhone, it asked me for my passcode…and I apparently did NOT remember what it was.  I first entered it wrong too many times, eventually reaching the “wait an hour please” state of a locked-out phone.  I was all “fuck that noise” so I figured I’ve got a backup I can restore to the phone, let’s wipe this motherfucker out and start from scratch.

And then iPhone was like, “oh hells no, bitch, fuck your day!” and decided it couldn’t be bothered to be restored to factory default settings.  Error 56 can go fuck itself.  So what I imagine was quite a bit more hair lost on my end, I called Apple and patiently went through the process I’d already done a few times, figuring maybe I had not done it right.  Unfortunately, no, I am decent at technology and had done things right.  I then grabbed Larry and went to the Apple Store to try to get a walk-in appointment to the Genius Bar.  I had to wait a little, but that’s what restaurants are for!  When my appointment came, the tech tried as well and saw the same Error 56 message I had – since I was under warranty, their solution was to take the phone and just hand me a replacement, new iPhone.  DONE.

So while it wasn’t the end of my world, as my personal iPhone was just fine, starting off a 4-day weekend that I may actually need to do work on with this was GREEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAT.  Just had to get that off my chest.  Technology rocks, except when it doesn’t.
