When I find myself listening to my Disney CDs that I picked up back in the 90s, I can’t help but get carried away with how wonderful Disney’s songs are. While I have many favorites, “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast is truly something next level than anything else. It never fails that when it gets to Angela Lansbury’s verse and she sings so happily about having a guest and the music builds to a magical crescendo, I’m grinning ear-to-ear and singing loudly along – it really is Disney’s finest musical moment. A sure-fire way to forget your troubles and be happy.
So of course after dinner I wanted to watch our Blu-Rays of both Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid, but just the song parts. Don’t have time for entire movies! Talk about a glorious period in movie musicals. What is kind of shocking though is that of the great Disney movies of the 90s, Aladdin ISN’T available on Blu-Ray. What kind of shit is that? That’s another one that has so many great moments and there’s no proper version in HD. FEH. Anyway, now you know what kind of night it was for Larry & me!
