Episode 27 – September 12, 2012

So how confident was I that Jenn would finally look out for herself and throw Dan under the bus?  Surprisingly, very confident.  I mean, why wouldn’t you do everything you could to save yourself and stay in the game?  Oh…because you have absolutely no game.  Yes, Jenn, you have long deserved to be evicted and this was just a long-awaited sense of the inevitable finally manifesting.  You had to have known your number was up, so why not throw a Hail Mary and see if it worked?  And who knows, maybe she did but it wasn’t aired.  But still – throwing that doubt into Ian’s plans could really only have done you a favor.  But no, it was clear as soon as Julie Chen surprised the house with news that the eviction was tonight (on a Wednesday!  how gauche!) that Dan and Ian were still close.  You missed your opportunity.

Jenn even seemed to have realized she could seize on shifting emotional sands, especially with Danielle.  Danielle wasn’t feeling the love from Shane anymore, and Jenn was clear-headed enough to recognize that Danielle was looking ready to toss Shane to the side.  Danielle hilariously mentioned she was ready to “play the player.” Ugh.  But we know that is a bunch of bullshit.  No sooner did Shane win the Veto Competition (which involved putting together a Dali-esque puzzle together while also having to swing back and forth to ensure your time didn’t elapse or else your vertical puzzle would collapse) and choose Danielle to go with him on a field trip was everything back to normal.  So here again…Shane and Danielle are out of the house, watching women’s gymnastics and meeting the Fab 5…Jenn is alone with Ian, and Dan….why not try to twist Ian’s ear?  Alas, that didn’t happen.  Instead, the happy couple (fresh from kissyfacing in the Limo!) return to a quite bored-looking group.  Dan quickly reestablishes that he’s safe with Danielle and their final 2 (!) deal is still a go.  Wow – this guy is hustling.  See, Jenn, this is how you do it.

Anyway, Shane takes his clothes off, I mean, he takes himself off the nominations chair, leaving Ian to of course nominate Dan….but no, that doesn’t happen.  He nominates Danielle, while using a relatively flimsy premise that he’s nervous about Shane and Danielle, as a couple, wielding so much power in the vote.   At this point, she’s clearly safe as the only ones voting are Dan and Shane, both of whom are definitely in the tank for Danielle.   So it’s hasta la vista to Jenn.  She leaves gracefully, happily taking Julie up in her offer of PB&J sandwiches.  She realizes a little too late though that eating a PB&J while on TV ensures you are going to be talking with a full mouth.  Ah well, Jenn was never one to really think things through, was she?

It’s time for the last real HoH competition before the epic Three-Part HoH Lollapalooza competition begins tonight.  Called “Photographic Memory”, I’m sure Ian immediately wishes he was eligible to play.  Alas, he isn’t and we are treated to the remaining having to answer True or False to questions posed about pictures they were shown earlier in the day.  It’s ridiculously detail-oriented questions that I am glad I didn’t have to partake in as super detailed stuff like that is not my forte.  Shane takes an early lead but at the end, Dan & Danielle overtake him and end up tying after 7 questions.  They go to a tie breaker and shockingly, in the Price is Right-style numbers game, Dan goes over while Danielle doesn’t, meaning Danielle wins HoH!  This is interesting.  Ian may have a shot here at surviving.  Without a doubt, I believe Danielle will stick with Shane, especially after his masterful seduction of her at the Gymnast thing.  My guess are that the nominations we’ll see tonight are Dan and Ian.  My hope is Ian can win Veto leaving Danielle having to put up Shane.  Now…at this point, Ian would have to think this through.  Can he trust Dan?  Is Shane too big a physical threat?  I think Ian’s got a much greater chance of winning against Shane – whether at the end or in competitions.  I just don’t think Ian sees Dan as the threat he is.  oh well.  We can always look at this picture of Shane.

HG Comments
Dan – It’s yours to lose, Mr. Red Shirt.
Danielle – Time to man up, girl.  You should choose Shane, as he’ll be easier to beat in the end plus he’s hotter than anyone else left.  And you get to smooshieface with him.  But why do I think you’re the sort who will likely do what the last person who talks to them says?
Ian – Let’s see if you can keep yourself from going home tonight.  I don’t think you will be able to, unless you can persuade Danielle to make a choice.
Jenn – C’est la vie.  You really had only one play, yet you had no idea there was even a game afoot.
Shane – Nice move in getting back on Danielle’s good side.  And damn, you amped up the hot factor yet again. You were looking good in that blue button down…..I think you’re safe this week, unless Danielle is maneuvered by Dan in to picking him over you.  Better open that shirt…or unzip those pants….if you want her to choose you.
